Amidst the Ruins

The women came from the mist and spoke in riddles,
They took no food or water, and forbid all pleasures,
One demand was made that the rulers soon ignored,
A full moon came and a strange trumpet blew,
The women stormed through the cracks in the walls,
And the soldiers froze in sight of them and fell to the floors,
Flesh became stone and stone became sand,
The trumpet blew and they vanished with a passing gust,
At once the city was lost by a fleeting force of fright,
And the people were no more amidst the ruins.
